Why FCT Minister Wike Revoked PDP Headquarters Land Approval

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has revoked the land allocation for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria's capital.

The partially constructed building was intended to serve as the party's new central office.

In a formal notice to PDP National Chairman Umar Damagun, the administration cited two decades of unpaid annual ground rent spanning from January 2006 to January 2025. Despite multiple public notifications published in newspapers and broadcast media since 2023 requesting property owners to settle outstanding balances, the PDP reportedly failed to address these payments.

The cancellation references violations of Land Use Act Section 28, Subsections 5(a) and 5(b). As a consequence, the property at Plot 243 in Abuja's Central Area (Cadastral Zone A00) has been repossessed by the FCT Administration, which plans to take control of the site immediately.
