In this part of the world where being outspoken, loud and assertive is considered the best behavior, introverts are often misunderstood and discriminated against because they lack these "accepted personality".
Due to misinformation, introversion is often confused shyness and social anxiety. Below is the myth and misconceptions about introverts.
1. We are shy : shyness has often been used interchangeably with introversion that we all believed they are synonymous. Being introverts doesn't mean we are shy, a shy person is afraid to talk and socialize, an introvert isn't afraid to talk she just didn't feel like socializing. Shyness is a trait that can be found in both introvert and extrovert.
2. Introvert are dumb: introverts tend to take their time before voicing out their opinions, they will deliberate wether their opinions on the matter is relevant or not. They just don't open their mouths and sprew whatever is on their mind. We always try to see beyond the horizon, conjecture the outcome of our decisions before taking action on them.
3. Antisocial: just because we don't delight in making a lot of friends doesn't make us lone Wolf or antisocial. We prefer two friends with deep connection and meaningful friendship to making "a friend to all, a friend to none" type of friendship.
4. Loneliness: people often confused being alone with being lonely, you can be in a crowd and still feel lonely. Preferring being alone doesn't mean we're lonely.we take to focusing on our inner thoughts and feelings, and the noisy world isn't the best place to do so.
5. We're unhappy: though it is out of good feeling and concern that people always ask us why are we so sad or looking serious, but it can be frustrating. We don't consider what you called fun to be for us. Your definition of happiness is different from ours. An introvert may prefer staying at home on Friday night while reading a book or watching TV to going to the pub or night club.
