African walnuts also known as Àsálà or Awùsá in the western part of Nigeria is a black colored hard nut. It has black pericarp covering a brain like whitish round but inside. They are scientifically called Tetracarpidium conophorum. The unripe fruits are green, they turn dark brown and then black as they mature.

African walnuts have a lot of health benefits out of which are;
