A Word Fitly Spoken

A Word Fitly Spoken

It's important that we watch our words. Words uplift and encourage but words can also hurt.

Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

So many times we get loose with our words. So much slang is used now days. That slang way of talking can often hurt others. What about God? Do we care if we hurt him?

OMG is a common acronym now. People use it all the time. We should not use this or say it. It is offensive to God. We should only say God when we are calling out to him for his help, mercy, repentance or words of praise.

Do people avoid you because you are always negative? Do you use offensive language? It is important that we watch our language. When I was a girl growing up men would normally be careful of the language they used in the presence of ladies. Now there are so many women talking improperly. That should not be so. I want my words to speak life, peace, joy and encouragement. If we find we are struggling we need to go back to Jesus and pray Job 6:24 – Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
