Best places to eat cheap in Abuja

Living in Abuja as a student, finding cheap food that actually tastes good is hard. After 6 months here, I found 3 spots where ₦1500 can fill you up. Here’s where I go when my budget is tight."

First is Mama’s Kitchen in Wuse Market. A plate of rice and stew is ₦800, and the portion is big. The stew has real meat, not just bones. It gets busy at 1pm, so go before 12:30pm if you want to sit down. The place is open.

Next is Bukka Hut Express near Area 1. Their amala and ewedu combo is ₦1200. It’s fast food style, so you get served in 5 minutes. I like going here when I’m in a hurry between classes. The pepper soup is also good for ₦1000.These 3 places help me eat well without spending more than ₦2000 per day. My tip is to go early and carry cash, because some don’t accept transfer yet. If you know other cheap spots in Abuja, drop them in the comments. Eating cheap doesn’t mean eating bad food here.

I usually go there  on weekday because weekends are crowded, they are one of the best places to eat.
