Culture. Culture is one of the most effective way of differentiating people from other ethic backgrounds. People's norms , values and believes depend on their cultural heritage. What is Culture? Culture is defined as the totality of people's ways of life. It simply denotes that culture is the collection every way of life of people which may be find in their believes, values,norms etc. Culture differs in length, space and time. That however entails cultural diversity, ie hereterogeneous nature of culture. Forms of Culture. There are two notable forms of culture viz: 1.Material and 2.Non material culture. Material Culture... These are those tangible aspect of culture that we can visually perceive and physically touch. For instance;concrete objects such as clothes, furnitures and others. Non Material Culture... These are the intangible aspects of culture that are thus abstract in nature. It lacks the sensation for touch and vision. For instance; language, ideas, happiness etc. It is pertinent to note that people's culture is mostly manifested on their language and mode of dressing. That is why if someone who is not from your cultural lineage speaks or dresses,he or she becomes so easy to be dictated and figure out from other. When culture of uncivilized community come in contact with that of advanced one,the result is cultural change or acculturation. In spite of the unique nature of culture,it however can be dynamic. If it is dynamic,it then connotes its ability to be assimilated and learned. Aspects of principles of culture. 1. Culture is dynamic 2. Culture is learned 3. Culture doe not exist without language. 4. Acculturation 5. Cultural assimilation. 6. Socialization etc. Since culture can not exist in absence of language it becomes matter of necessity to introduce socialization which helps in the inculcation of cultural traits in individuals especially children. Socialization simply means the process whereby a child or adult internalizes the societal ways of life such as norms . These Agents through which socialization instill culture are as follows viz: Family, School, Church, Political organization, Peer group etc. The Family... The Family is the first stage or instance of socialization. It is a place where informal educations are given to the children by his parents. In the family, teenagers are taught basically the primary aspects of life while the secondary aspects are reserved for the educational institutions. The School... This is an educational institution where formal educations are instilled in the children. Children go to buildings or premises structurally meant for learning where their parents pay a sum of money periodically. Church... This is a religious institution where moral instructions are given to children. Peer group... This is a group of people assumed to be the same age who randomly come together. It is very easy for teenagers to learn from their colleagues instead of their elderly ones. Political organization... This is body who educate citizens on political activities. They use the platforms of political parties to the education of in elections, governance and campaigns. In a nutshell, Socialization and culture are interdependently synergic meanwhile language is inevitable aspect of culture which every average citizen should promote.
