CUBAN AMBASSADOR PAYS COURTESY CALL ON YOUTH AND SPORTS MINISTER

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Ghana, Her Excellency Anette Chao Garcìa on Friday 25th February, 2022 paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif in his office in Accra.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce herself to the Minister as the new Cuban ambassador to Ghana and to establish a cordial relationship between them through collaboration that is geared towards enhancing the economic fortunes for the youth of their respective countries. 

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Minister for receiving her warmly  and discussed ways to strengthen the relationship between the youth and sports ministry and that of Cuba.

She noted that there are about three hundred (300) Ghanaian students studying medicine in Cuba to improve on their knowledge in the profession.

According to her the people of Cuba are happy with the progress of sports development in Ghana especially football and would like to collaborate with the Ministry for exchange programs to benefit their two countries. 

In his welcome remarks, Hon. Mustapha commended the Cuban ambassador for the visit and said his Ministry was committed to continue with the working relationship between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Republic of Cuba in the areas of youth development and sports activities.

The youth and Sports Minister acknowledged the Cuban government’s support to the government of Ghana particularly in the area of Education ( scholarship) and among other things. 

According to him, the Ministry of Youth and Sports through the government of Ghana has developed Youth resource centres across the country to position sports as a vehicle for economic development. 

He highlighted that Ghana  is ready to support the improvement of the Youth and also learn from Cuba in the area of sports development. 

Present at the short meeting was the Chief Director of the Ministry,  Alhaji Hafiz Adam, the protocol Officer, Dinah Boateng, the Public Relations officer  Kenneth Annang and other staff of the Ministry.
