DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF WITH ANYONE

DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF WITH ANYONE

Proverbs 28:5 (NIV) says: "Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the Lord understand it fully."

This verse is telling us something very important—wicked people cannot truly understand what is right and just because they are far from God. They live in ignorance and foolishness. But those who sincerely seek the Lord, by reading His Word and listening to His Spirit, will understand what is right in every situation.

You must never compare yourself with someone who is doing evil things. Many people sin because they don’t know God’s truth. They may appear successful or free, but in reality, they are lost.

A good example is the Apostle Paul. Before meeting Jesus, Paul was a murderer. He attacked churches, dragged Christians from their homes, and even approved their killings (Acts 8:1–3, 1 Timothy 1:13). But later, Paul admitted that he did all this in ignorance, and God forgave him.

Hebrews 6:4–6 warns us that if someone truly knows God and then turns back to sin, it is very hard to bring them to repentance. Their judgment will be more severe because they know the truth but still choose wrong.

This is why you must not compare yourself to evil-doers. You know God. You know what is right and wrong, even when you feel tempted or when a close friend, maybe even a fellow believer may try to persuade you otherwise.

Follow the Holy Spirit. Let God’s Word be your guide. If something is not according to God’s Word, do not do it.

I once led a woman to repentance. She had been sleeping with a man and decided to stop after repenting. But when she went to her local church and told her pastor, he told her it was fine and even advised her to welcome him to her house to live together before marriage. She knew it was wrong, so she came back to me and said, “Our pastor is a fake pastor; how can he tell me to do what is wrong?”

She refused to do what was wrong, she had the courage to stand on God’s truth, and you must do the same. Sin is sin—no matter who tells you it’s okay.

Prayer: Lord, help me stand firm in Your truth and never follow the way of evil.
