Umuma Ndiagu, Enugu State – A wave of shock and outrage has swept through the community of Umuma Ndiagu in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, following the gruesome discovery of human remains in the compound of a native doctor identified as Ezeani.
According to local sources, several bodies—reportedly including those of pregnant women and children—were found buried in soakaway pits within the suspect’s premises. The victims are believed to have been kidnapped and buried alive in what is suspected to be a ritual practice.
Ezeani, who is alleged to be at the center of the chilling crimes, has fled the area. Before his escape, he reportedly denied any involvement but later admitted to knowing about the killings. He also named two alleged accomplices, identified as Okey and Chibuzor.
In the wake of the discovery, enraged youths from the community took swift action. Ezeani’s house and vehicles were set ablaze, and his wives were apprehended by residents.
Community leaders have expressed deep concern over the incident, calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to track down Ezeani and his alleged collaborators.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement, but investigations are said to be ongoing.
The shocking revelation has left residents traumatized and has raised urgent questions about the prevalence of ritual practices in parts of the country.
