How family members abandoned kinsman over N100m ransom in Nigeria

kidnap victim abandoned kinsman over N100m ransom in Nigeria

The security situation in Nigeria, particularly in the North West geopolitical zone, has taken a turn for the worst, with armed bandits ravaging communities and killing innocent villagers at random.

The situation is even made worst by frequent raids by bandits, who storm communities to pillage and kidnap people for ransom.

This ugly scenerio recently surfaced in Zamafara State, where an audio trending on social media, revealed the conversation between an unidentified relation of a victim of kidnapping and the leader of a gang of bandits.

In the trending audio, the relation of the victim could be heard pleading with the bandits to accept the N12m they were able to raise in exchange for their kinsman.

Obviously, the conversation between the family of the kidnap victim and the bandits took place just before the Christmas holiday, with the family begging the bandits to agree to collect the N12m.

The leader of the bandits however rejected the offer, demanding for N100m instead, in order for them to release their victim.

"If it's a matter of N10m, why would I still be holding your relative? Who told you we are asking for N30m? Our demand was for N100m before we can release your brother," the leader of the bandits insisted.

Apparently fed up with the matter, the relation of the victim decided to call off the bluff of the kidnappers.

"God punish you if you don't go ahead and kill him. Where do you expect us to get this money with the Christmas holiday?"

The victim's family member poured invectives on the bandits, calling them unprintable names, in obvious frustration.

It was not clear how the matter ended but it is generally known that bandits kill their victims over less amounts. It's fearful that even if they finally agree to collect the N12m whether they will release their victim.

The bandits may collect the N12m ransom and still go ahead to kill their victim.
