I Slept with my Best Friend's Brother: Chapter 8

By the time the clock struck ten, the Reece's house was unrecognizable. Beer cans, plastic cups and used items littered on the lawn. Some people were also passed out on the lawn and Bailey was surprised none of the neighbours called the police or Kaleb's and Mirabella's parents.

Bailey yelped when a sweaty guy tried to sneakily rub against her side. She needed out of here but couldn't leave Mira alone. Mira held her hand and brought her to the dance floor. "Let's dance, Bailey!" she squealed. Mira had drank a few beers but she wasn't a lightweight so at least Bailey wasn't too worried about her.

Bailey reluctantly started moving her hips, rolling them to the beat of the song. There were eyes on her but she dared not look yet. She wanted to enjoy this moment with her best friend who looked at least happy. She didn't want to ruin it.

"Yes bitch, move those hips!" Mira cheered, and lifted her hand with the red cup. Some beer spilled out but she didn't seem to care.

Bailey giggled, holding one of Mirabella's hands and moved her hips even more. The stench of marijuana and sweat filtered out of her mind as she focused on her happy best friend. At least one of them was happy.

Suddenly there was a pair of hands locking around her waist and Bailey turned back to see that it was a guy from school. He grinned at her sloppily and guided her hips to move against his. She was grossed out, especially when she felt his obvious arousal pressing against her. Nasty.

"Can you move away?" she asked politely and peeled his fingers off her waist.

The guy looked disappointed. "But I just want to dance, cutie. Please just one dance?" he begged.

Feeling a little bad, Bailey bit her lip and then slowly started moving her waist along with his. Okay, this didn't feel good, she thought as his fingers dug into her skin. She sensed eyes on her from across the room and looked over — and stiffened, shivering at the pure fury blazing in Kaleb's eyes as he watched her over the rim of his cup.

He downed his beer and crushed the red cup in his hand. A girl stood beside him, leaning in and running her hand down his chest, but Kaleb looked completely uninterested. Then with a sharp, angry look, he started walking straight toward Bailey and Mira.

Bailey froze completely, alarmed by that flash of fury. Mira didn't notice though — her hands were in the air, eyes closed, lost in the music. It was only when Kaleb stood right beside them, radiating anger, that Mira finally felt the tension. She opened her eyes and saw her brother, his hand clamped around the guy's wrist like steel. His knuckles were white, and the guy winced visibly.

"Move," Kaleb said tightly, voice low and furious.

The guy nodded quickly and practically scrambled away from Bailey. Bailey frowned, completely confused —  why was Kaleb so angry?Kaleb's angry stare weighed heavily on Bailey, then he sneered. "Stop shaking your ass on some random drunk guy. You're lucky I was here — he probably would've dragged you upstairs and had his way with you."

Bailey flinched, then snapped back, furious. "I didn't ask you to be my knight in shining armor, asshole! I was fine, I could've handled it myself. And I can dance with whoever I want."

Kaleb was furious — he'd just saved her and this was her thanks? Before he could reply, Bailey grabbed Mira's hand and pulled her off the dance floor. She was seething. Who did he think he was, acting like her bodyguard? He should worry about his sister, not her!

In the kitchen, Bailey spotted the beer and popped one open. She didn't even like beer, but right now it tasted amazing — anything to calm her irritation. "Your brother is so damn annoying," she muttered.

Mira rolled her eyes and grabbed a beer too. "Tell me something I don't know." They drank until Bailey's head began to throb.

"I think I'm done, I'm going upstairs," Bailey winced. She'd definitely had too much.

"You go ahead," Mira said. "I'm staying a bit longer — gotta show Ryan I can have fun too. Lock my door from inside until I come up, okay?"

Bailey hesitated, but Mira knew her limits. "Okay. Be safe — there are creeps everywhere."

Upstairs, Bailey was relieved it was quiet — until she reached Mira's room and found a couple on her bed. Grossed out, she backed away. Her parents' room was locked, so that left only one option: Kaleb's room. She hesitated, then opened the door — empty. Thank God. She slipped inside and shut the door behind her.
