To whom it may concern,

Yes! The law does exist in Gainesville, Georgia and is still relevant. So whatever you do, don't try eating fried chicken with any other thing than your hands in Gainesville Georgia.

In 1961, Gainesville, Georgia passed an ordinance, that requires people not to eat fried chicken with anything other than their hands. Practically, eating fried chicken with a knife, fork, spoon or any other utensil is strictly forbidden and illegal.

The Gainesville ordinance passed back in 1961 was actually a publicity stunt well designed for promoting Gainesville, Georgia as the “poultry capital of the world”
