Bungo - Bungo Regent H. Dedy Putra, S.H., M.Kn., officially launched the People's Oil Palm Program (Prowitra), marked by the first planting activity and the symbolic distribution of free oil palm seedlings to the community on Tuesday (July 29, 2025). The event took place in Mangun Jayo Hamlet, Muko-Muko Bathin VII District, Bungo Regency.
The Prowitra Program is one of the Bungo Regent's priority programs aimed at improving community welfare through the plantation sector, particularly oil palm. In the initial phase of implementation, the Bungo Regency Government distributed 3,000 free superior oil palm seedlings to communities who already owned land and were ready to manage their plantations.
Furthermore, the local government also provided basic fertilizer assistance to farmers and facilitated land clearing using local government-owned heavy equipment. The fuel costs for the heavy equipment were covered by the beneficiary farmers.
In his remarks, Regent H. Dedy Putra stated that this program was designed as a concrete solution to support the rural economy based on local potential, especially in areas with promising oil palm cultivation prospects.
"We want communities to have their own productive oil palm plantations. The Bungo Regency Government is here not only to hand over seedlings, but also to assist farmers from the very beginning, from fertilizer application and land clearing to planting," said the Regent.
Also present at the event were members of the Bungo Regency Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), heads of relevant regional government agencies (OPD), sub-district heads, Datuk Rio (regents) from Muko-Muko Bathin VII District, farmer groups, and the local community. The event also included the symbolic planting of oil palm seedlings by the Regent and his staff.
With the launch of Prowitra, it is hoped that it will foster economic independence for the community and accelerate the development of a sustainable smallholder plantation sector in Bungo Regency.
