RECIAL INJUSTICE AND THE STRUGGLES DURING THE CIVIL RIGHTS ERA.

Mind you, the poor boy was just,17, years old when tragedy falls on him.As he was facing the tuff and deeply racist system.

About the incident, Washington like other kids of his age was returning from a double date, when he encountered officer Even though he did not try to tldo anything or pull the trigger , still he was arrested and sentenced to death by all white jury.

Then there was a trial and follow Washington faced three separate trials and he ended spent,13years in prison.Amolst every day he was facing the the electric chair during the trial.It also includes the time of death row.George Wallace, sentenced him to 13 stays of execution.Wallace was having discomfort about the death penalty.

Fight for justice.Washinton was presented by two lawyers, David Hood Jr and Orzel Billingsley.Both fought tirelessly to win his acquittal but despite the effort and time Washington was convicted twice.In 1979 the second conviction was overturned by the court.

Charges against Washington was never dismissed during his time ,they were dropped after his death on May 24,2001.

Washington case highlights the real RECIAL INJUSTICE and systemic flows of the Jim Crow era.The story of Washington is a powerful example of injustice caused by racism and the struggles faced by our African American during the civil rights era.
