She Used Me for Exam Runs, Then Slept with

My Best Friend”

Episode 2

After that day in the hall, everything changed.

Anita stopped asking me for help with her studies.

She now asked Collins.

The same Collins I introduced her to.

The same Collins I trusted like a brother.

One evening, I saw them laughing outside school. Collins was holding her bag. Anita was holding his arm. And they both looked so happy.

I stood and watched them from a distance.

I wanted to ask her, “Why?”

But I didn’t.

I just walked away.

The next day in school, I acted like nothing happened. But inside me, I was dying slowly.

Then came the mock exams.

Anita walked up to me and said, “David please, help me with the answers in the exam. You know I can’t fail.”

I looked at her face.

She didn’t even say “please” with love. She just wanted something from me.

But my heart was still weak.

I still loved her.

So during the exam, I passed her answers.

After the exam, she didn’t even say thank you. She went straight to Collins and held his hand.

That was the day I knew…

She never loved me.

She only used me.

The mock results came out.

Anita passed very well. Of course—because I helped her.

Everyone was surprised. Even some teachers were asking, “How did she improve so fast?”

She smiled and said, “Hard work.”

I just kept quiet.

Then one day, I heard something that hit me like a slap.

I was walking past the back of the school building when I heard Anita’s voice. She was talking to her friend, Sandra.

Sandra asked her, “So between David and Collins, who do you really like?”

Anita laughed and said, “David? Abeg, that one is just book boy. He helped me pass mocks, but Collins is the real deal.”

Sandra laughed too. “You sharp o. So you’re with Collins now?”

Anita replied, “We already did it… Last weekend.”

My heart stopped.

They did it?

She gave Collins what I thought we were building together?

I stood there, behind the wall, shaking.

I didn’t cry.

I couldn’t.

I just walked away.

That night, I didn’t sleep.

I kept replaying her words in my head: “David? That one is just book boy.”

Everything we shared… all the times we read together… all the calls… all the laughs… it was all fake.

I was just her exam plan.

And now, she had moved on.

After I heard Anita’s words, I stopped talking to her.

I also stopped talking to Collins.

But Collins didn’t even notice—or maybe he didn’t care.

He still laughed loud in class, still acted like everything was fine.

And Anita? She kept walking around like a queen. Like she owned the whole school.

One day, Collins walked up to me during break.

“Guy, why you dey cold on me?” he asked. “We no be boys again?”

I looked at him and said quietly, “You know what you did.”

He laughed. “Oh, because of Anita? You dey vex?”

I didn’t answer.

He smiled and said, “Na she choose me. You no fit force love.”

Then he walked away like he didn’t just break me.

The worst part?

People in school started talking.

Some said, “David was only used.”

Some said, “Collins snatched her.”

Some laughed behind my back. Others said sorry with fake pity.

But I didn’t care about them.

I just wanted to heal.

I stopped helping Anita with studies. I stopped answering her calls.

One night, she sent me a message:

“So you’re now acting like a child? After everything I’ve done for you?”

I looked at the message and smiled.

Everything she did for me?

She used me.

She dumped me.

She slept with my best friend.

And now, I was the one acting like a child?

That was the night I deleted her number.

And I promised myself—never again.
