Northern Nigeria used to filled with youths oozing with creativity, vigour and enthusiasm to perform greater things.
Then you will see youths with blossoming careers and are ready to impact the society positively. Then this anomie of drug trafficking and addiction started infiltrating the vibrant north.
It started with the pace of molluscs, then it moved faster then than the cheetah. Teenagers are now drug barons in their various vicinities, they are now familiar with all types of narcotics, antidepressants, opiods and barbiturates.
After smoking and inhaling these noxious drugs, they inflict terror on anodyne citizens, which their various parents are not spared.
The drug addiction has metamorphorsed to kidnapping, banditry, proliferation of deadly fire arms and unhabitable environment in the north.
Many of them are massively endangering themselves to heart failures, respiratory problems, lungs dysfunction.
Diseases like Cancers, bronchitis, emphysema, myocardial infarction and others will start manifesting in their bodies, and even other diseases that their prognosis are bad.
Government at its various levels need massive sensitization on the implications of drug addiction, the short term and long term effects in the body and environment.
If this anomie is not arrested on time, many youths will be psychotics, public nuisances and unrepentant addicts.
And to ameliorate this problem, government should provide employment opportunities to the teeming youths, create blossoming commerce, and create agricultural sector that will provide jobs to thousands of youths.
Centres should be set up for mental rehabilitation.Religious institutions in the north should vigorously campaign against drug addiction. And surreptitious markets where they sell this drugs should be closed and drugs impounded by relevant agencies concerned. Those that sell these nefarious drugs should be arrested and charged to court.
Public sensitization should be done on televisions, radios and newspapers.
So interesting
