HE’s Gone
“He can’t even ride a mule we kwendaa!!!” shouted Halima to everyone’s surprise.
“unadhani gari ni bibi yako utaamka tu uanze kuendesha??” mocked jane, tony sat there wondering what on earth he was doing there that late.
“We wasee acha mi niishie hivi tutaonana kesho masaa yake” Tony said as he hurriedly walked away into the darkness.
"Hey Meja! ona akina Drew wamefuata tony nyuma si pia tufuate wanaeza mbamba na hapo mbele." Shouted Steve pointing towards Tony's place.
This could have been an easy take Drew thought as he closely approached tony from behind but tonight wasn’t as normal.
Before he could reach him an over speeding car with a drunk learner on the wheel swept him off the road.
Halima Drew's sister got the news late, he was already in the hospital when she saw him. It was Steve and Meja who had carried him off the cross walk after the driver speed off leaving him for dead.
Behind her was Jane, the sweet innocent love in her eyes was hard not to notice. It was as if she was in more pain than Drew was. But again we can understand the pain of seeing someone you love in agony, it is frustrating.
Jane had loved Drew, loved him with all she can to an extent that even after he broke her heart in the past she still loved him, Meja her now boyfriend knew about them.
He too loved Jane, he loved her that even though he knew she couldn’t love him that much back but he still did.
Everyone knew Drew was a wreck, a petty thief with a face girls couldn’t resist and he didn’t let any chance to have se*x pass him. a crack head, weed addict who couldn’t control his urge to smoke anytime he got a chance to.
Despite all this, he still was Jane's dreamland king. It is possible to be blinded by love but Brian, the tall guy with a bad haircut did literally get blinded by Drew once in a fight at Halima’s place when he tried to spank Jane.
Drew was in his last gasps when she heard him say ''The sun sets when we start feeling alive.' and closed his eyes, forever! She broke down, the world around her collapsed.
Like a goat strangled by its own rope without hope for escape. She passed out because of the pain.
Halima’s face was covered in tears as she recalled a small boy she had carried in her arms a few years ago was no more.
Meja thought it could get easier on him with Jane after drew was not in the picture but seeing her cry that much taunted him. Steve picked Jane off the ground and put her in Meja’s arms as he said to him,
"Bro maisha ni fupi, kesho hatujui kutaendaje, D ameenda na jua saa hii si time ya break down saidia msupa maisha itasonga. Be her shoulder, she needs you man"
I wish this story had a happy ending but that night Jane hang herself because of the pain when meja left her side to rest a little.
Blaming himself, he left home never to be seen again in his departure leaving a letter that said "the sun sets when we start feeling alive".
