Three Major Types of Soup In Rivers State

 

There are three major types of soup in Rivers State that you may like to prepare at the comfort of your home.

 

These soups are:

 

Cocoa yam soup (Ede)

The Fisherman's soup

Ofor soup (Mini wiri)

Cocoa yam soup.

 

Cocoayam soup is basically prepared with cocoyam powder, accompanied with other ingredients like: dried fish, meat, palm oil, stock fish and vegetable.

Other ingredients such as pepper salt seasoning cubes are also essential in preparing the cocoyam soup.

 

The fisherman soup.

The fisherman soup is basically prepared with sea foods such as: tilapia, water snails, periwinkle, salt, pepper, seasoning cubes and palm oil.

 

Notably, the fisherman soup requires varieties of seafood in preparing it.

Ofor soup.

The soup is majorly prepared by the Ikwerre tribe of River State.

The soap contains a little quantity of a thickener known as ofor, this soup is also prepared with dried or fresh fish, periwinkle, salt, pepper and palm oil.
