8. My Love Story (2015)

My Love Story!!" is a Japanese romantic comedy manga and anime series about Takeo Goda, a seemingly intimidating but kind-hearted boy, and his blossoming romance with the beautiful and gentle Yosano, who is initially intimidated by his size.

This romantic anime is wonderful due to its main character — Takeo Gouda. This tall, broad, and downright intimidating high schooler falling head-over-heels for the dainty Rinko is heartwarming. Then seeing him try to play cupid for her with his best friend despite his feelings shows that Takeo has a heart of gold.

Everyone who watches will be rooting for Takeo and Rinko's sweet relationship. My Love Story!! also does not hold back on the good stuff since the leads are dating for the majority of the episodes, so it is not a slow build to a confession.

7. Clannad After Story (2008-2009)

The animation is of a high quality throughout. Overall I'd say this is a must see if you enjoyed the first series; I wouldn't advise going straight to this as certain elements might seem more than a little confusing.

This is an anime of two halves: Clannad and After Story. The latter is head-and-shoulders above the former, but Clannad is mandatory viewing if someone wants to experience After Story's full impact. While hardly lacking in supporting characters, this show ultimately tells Tomoya Okazaki and Nagisa Furukawa's story, and it is a powerful one.

Unlike many romance series, Clannad After Story takes place after high school and shows Tomoya and Nagisa's growth, both as individuals and as a couple. The anime does not sugarcoat everything and genuinely explores common struggles faced by many people.

6.The Dangers In My Heart (2018-Present)

The Dangers in My Heart, abbreviated as BokuYaba, is a Japanese manga series. The Dangers in My Heart is brilliant. Yes, on the surface, this is just another shonen romance where a popular girl falls in love with an ordinary guy who is a bit of a loner. These stories are a dime-a-dozen and tend to offer very little beyond blatant wish fulfillment, and The Dangers in My Heart has all the makings of a prototypical example of this trope. Yet, the anime just works.

Ichikawa is an average dude who does not have many friends and loves to daydream about unsavory things. While not depicting the latter in too great of detail, the anime does not shy away from it either, causing Ichikawa to leave a poor first impression. Conversely, Anna is a bubbly but still shy girl who loves to eat and works as a model. After accidentally meeting at the school library, the two students begin to spend some time together, eventually sparking a friendship with the potential to become something more. Anna attempts to force Ichikawa out of his shell, inspiring the latter to change quite a lot throughout the two seasons.

Although a slow-burn at first, The Dangers in My Heart starts to become something special toward the end of season 1, and it carries that momentum into a follow-up cour that comfortably places the story as one of the best romance anime of all time. Anna and Ichikawa are both equally fantastic, but the former is the main reason this show works so well. In lesser hands, she could have come across as an overly perfect trophy conceived to drive the male protagonist's maturity, turning her into little more than a plot device. However, Anna is a fully fleshed-out character with clear insecurities, quirks, and vulnerabilities. Her interest in Ichikawa is convincing, and the same can be said in reverse. That's not something that many romance anime can claim.
