Turkeys Can Reproduce Without S,ex

Parthenogenesis basically just means reproduction without fertilization.

It is a fascinating process where the female provides both sets of the DNA necessary to create an embryo.

This phenomenon literally means “virgin birth,” but it has nothing to do with the common conception of virginity.

Bird's that have previously mated can do it too. Instead, it has everything to do with reproducing without s,ex.

Parthenogenesis is the development of viable offspring from unfertilized eggs with no sperm necessary.

Bird's too, can reproduce parthenogenetically, but this phenomenon is restricted mainly to chickens, turkeys and pigeons. It occurs in turkeys through the doubling of haploid cells.
