Why are leopard called leopards?

Leopards are actually called leopards because in the Ancient Greek, it is believed that leopard are offspring or hybrids of lions and panthers. Which also gives them the name panthers pardus.

Leopard are carnivorous i.e , they feed on poorly flesh. They gestate for 12-18months and are widely distributed around the savanna mainly in the African continent.

Leopards are less noticeable when blended with their habitat (camouflage) and they are listed among successful terrestrial predators.
