The Governor of Anambra state Professor Chukwuma Soludo through his press secretary, Christan Aburime have confirmed that he authorized the demolition of part of the church, and other perimeter fences of Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohaneme popularly known in the public circle as Odumeje, Indabosky Bahose, the lion, the liquid metal. The operation was executed by a joint government task force.
The church, Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry is located at No 88B Bida road Fegge by Modebe Avenue, Onitsha.
According to the press release, it was demolished in compliance with Soludo's plan to pursue and achieve Onitsha Urban Renewal Plan as a mega city. The building was marked for demolition in April because it was sitting on a flood channel on the Nwangene canal obstructing waterways and blocking the drainage linking to the River Niger. He stated that due notice was served to him, other affected building owners and developers to remove the illegal structures. It was his non - compliance with the directive given to him that made the government to carry out the demolition process after the expiration of the notice.
Over 200 buildings also marked for demolition for the same reason of sitting on flood channels will still be demolished. These include residential buildings, other churches, other buildings on Sakomori, Otumoye, Ochanja market and Ziks Avenue in Fegge and Onitsha environs.
His manhandling by Security operatives during the operation was attributed to the fact that he was interfering and obstructing the demolition process.
