So, are these the countries with the strongest militaries in the world?
The Global FirePower Index, which analyzes the military strength of countries around the world, has released the list of countries with the strongest militaries in 2026.
*United States*
The Global Fire Power Index ranked the United States first among the 145 countries it analyzed for security and military strength.
The US, with a population of 341,963,408, has approximately 2,132,530 military personnel, according to GPF figures.
Of this number, 1,333,030 are currently active duty, while 799,500 are in reserve.
The GPF states that of these personnel, 1,174,890 serve in the Army, while 708,758 are in the Air Force, and about 612,124 in the Navy.
In terms of defense budget, the US allocated $831.5 billion to the country's defense sector last year.
The US has military bases and many personnel operating in various countries around the world.
*Russia*
Russia is the second strongest military in the world in 2026 after the US, according to the GPF.
The country - located in Eastern Europe - has 3,570,000 military personnel.
Of these, 1,320,000 are active, while 2,000,000 are in reserve.
Russia has about 600,000 Army personnel, while it has about 203,376 in the Air Force and 160,000 in the Navy, plus 250,000 other security personnel, as GPF stated.

India - which is also in Asia - is the fourth country in the list of the world's strongest militaries according to GFP figures for 2026.
The figures show that the country has approximately five million military personnel.
Of these, 2,148,000 are Army, followed by 289,000 Air Force and 184,869 Navy.
GFP says the country currently has 1,431,000 active personnel, plus one million in reserve and about 2.5 million other security personnel.
GFP figures show that the country allocated $109 billion to its defense sector in the national budget.
*South Korea*
South Korea, which is also in Asia, has long been investing in its security sector.
The country - which is at odds with its northern neighbor - is focusing on strengthening its security.
South Korea has about 3,670,000 military personnel.
Of this number, only 450,000 are currently active, while 3,100,000 are in reserve.

France is the first strongest military country in Europe, but sixth in the world, as GFP figures show.
