COVID-19: In two years, the NCDC reports 3,000 deaths and 250,000 cases.

In just two years, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded over 250,000 coronavirus illnesses and over 3,000 deaths in the country.

The center explained in a statement that the country had learned its lessons to enhance the health system to deal with other infectious diseases and future health emergencies.

It was observed that the first instance of coronavirus sickness in Nigeria was discovered exactly two years ago on February 27th.

Despite the prevailing pandemic fatigue, coronavirus remained a global reality, with the risk of the introduction of hazardous variations, according to the NCDC.

"This makes it vital to learn from the lessons given by this pandemic to strengthen preparedness and response to subsequent diseases, in keeping with our mandate," the statement said. In addition to the COVID-19 pandemic, we've been dealing with cholera and Lassa fever epidemics."

The center, it added, was created on lessons learned from reacting to the epidemic in the previous two years to improve health security in the country.

It stated that it was everyone's job to encourage and hold authorities accountable to keep interest and investment in healthcare alive.
