Daniel in lion's den

The story of Daniel in the lion's den is a well-known biblical story that is found in the book of Daniel in the Old Testament of the Bible. According to the story, Daniel was a Jewish man who served in the court of the Babylonian king, Darius the Mede.

Daniel was a wise and faithful servant, but his success and loyalty to God aroused the jealousy of the other court officials. They conspired against Daniel and convinced the king to issue a decree that for thirty days, no one should pray to any god or man except the king himself. The punishment for disobeying this decree was to be thrown into a den of lions.

Despite the decree, Daniel continued to pray to God three times a day, as he had always done. When the other officials caught him in the act, they reported him to the king, who was devastated to hear that Daniel had broken the decree. Although he liked Daniel, the king had no choice but to uphold the law, and he ordered Daniel to be thrown into the lion's den.

However, God protected Daniel, and when the king went to the den the next morning, he found Daniel unharmed and the lions lying down beside him. The king was overjoyed and declared that Daniel's God was the true God and that all his subjects should worship him.

The story of Daniel in the lion's den is often cited as an example of God's faithfulness and protection of his people, even in the face of persecution and death. It also serves as a reminder to believers to remain faithful to God, no matter what the cost, and to trust in his power to deliver them from harm.
