What Does It Mean? Does It Affect The Course of Human Life?
Are We Programmed?
Am born to reign” jeered an ambitious demagogue;“Tomorrow will be a good day!” an elated optimist heralded; “You are my destiny wife” inferred a youngster. Are men really acquainted with aggregate experiences of the remote future? Destiny, what is it?
According to Oxford Advance Learner Dictionary it is: 1. the power believe to control events; fate, 2. what happens to particular people: events that shape destinies of nations. Oxford Universal Dictionary Illustrated provides us a second (indeed, better) definition: 1. that which is destined to happen. 2. That which is to happen to a particular person or thing. 3. In weaken sense: ultimate condition. 4. The power of agency by which events are unalterably predestined, divine preordination, invincible necessary, FATE.
Destiny indeed is a fixed Course as circumscribed by the English Dictionaries.However, despite these expounding definitions, yet, our puzzle exists. The question that hasn't been answered is; Who foreordains the Course of destiny; of who prognostication is it? Indeed, Destiny is an Act of divine sovereignty, or Will, but of Whose?
Let's reexamine what the dictionaries are saying for further clues. Notice here with me the following supporting phrases, such as: “The power of agency by which events are unalterably predestined”; more so, this one: “divine preordination”. Now, who among the “gods” is capable of preordaining these clearly unyielding Acts? Is there really one found amongst them? Honestly, No; not as one! The Bible speaks of just one Deity who holds sole claim to foreordaining the symmetry of [His] Universe. And He’s no other than the LORD, God Almighty; “JEHOVAH EL-SHADDAI” is His name!
Hear ye Him:“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else: I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, my counsel [purposes] shall stand [unaltered], and I do all my pleasure: calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executed my counsel from a far country [called from a life of sin to holy relationship with Him, primarily to fulfill His pleasure/purpose]: yea I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it (Isaiah 46: 9-11).What an explicit avowal of God's Sovereignty!
BRACE THYSELF: JEHOVAH controls EVERYTHING ( both in heaven and on earth): Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15: 11). Apparently, there is none! Hallelujah!
Conclusively, God is the Source of the “power” (common with all definitions above mentioned) controlling the unaltered events of [man’s] Destiny. What he foreordains no one can alter! His preordinations are mankind aggregate futurity within which we conduct ourselves before Him.
God, sort of, sets the boundaries (similarly to what He did in the Garden of Eden at the inception of man) and allows men to make choices in confinement to the council of His Will, or pleasure.
