The National Identity Management Commission, or NIMC, has been directed by the Federal High Court in Abuja to provide the Attorney-General of the Federation with a Certified True Copy of David Ukpo's biodata information so that it may be sent to the British government.
On July 1, Justice Inyang Ekwo issued an order directing the release of David Ukpo's official information and documents to Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice in connection with an alleged organ harvesting case in the United Kingdom. The order was given to NIMC, Immigration Service, IBTC Bank, United Bank of Africa, and the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System.
A fresh order was issued after NIMC refused to provide the aforementioned document to the attorneys for Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, who are now imprisoned in the UK.
The Attorney-General of the Federation must be provided with these documents in order to present them to the London court, according to the counsel for NIMC, Muazu Mohammed, who claims that it is against the laws of the Commission to divulge a citizen's personal information due to its confidentiality.
In order to prove the applicant's innocence in relation to David's age in the criminal accusation brought before Uxbridge Magistrate Court in the United Kingdom.
When deciding on the motion, the trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, issued an order directing the prompt release of the requested papers.
Because the respondents did not seem to object to the applicants' request, the court allowed Ekweremadu and his wife's motion.
After appearing before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court for an alleged conspiracy to aid the trip of Ukpo, who is claimed to be a juvenile, for organ harvesting, Ekweremadu and his wife were held in UK police custody.
