Every disappointment is a blessing in disguise

I thought I had finally caught a break.

A friend told me about a better job opportunity in Abuja. The pay was good, the role sounded solid, and I believed him. I trusted him enough to resign from my current job and prepare to move.

But when I got to Abuja, everything changed. The job wasn’t real. Calls went unanswered. Messages were ignored. And then I got blocked.

It felt like the ground disappeared under me. I was angry, embarrassed, and stuck in a new city with no plan. For days I kept asking myself why someone I trusted would do that.

That’s when it hit me: disappointment doesn’t have to be the end of the story.

I started looking for work again, this time without relying on anyone else. It took effort, but I found a better job than the one I originally left. The betrayal hurt, but it pushed me to take full control of my path.

Now I see it differently. That moment didn’t ruin me. It redirected me.

If you’ve ever been let down by someone you trusted, you know how heavy it feels. But sometimes what looks like the worst setback is actually the push you needed to find something better.

Trust people, but don’t put your future in their hands. Build yourself so that even when they fail you, you can still rise.
