1.A diabetics patient can eat any variety of carbohydrates foods but portions of the meals should be applied about 250 to 500ml portion is enough to help manage the blood sugar, examples are rice,yam potatoes,garri , wheat, semolina are needed for a well balanced diet,all forms of carbohydrates are good for diabetes but ensure to use food portion plate for right measurements.
2. Avoid carbonated drinks: carbonated drink are not to be taken if you are diabetics because carbonated drinks contain caffeine which reduces iron production/formation in the blood, examples are coca cola ,la casera,malts and wine.
3. Avoid honey: it is a simple sugar which when consumed goes down straight to the blood stream without undergoing digestion and this leads to high glucose level, instead use a plant based sugar.
4. Fruit are essential for a diabetes vulnerable and as well only one fruit is expected to be consumed in a day, because fruit contains simple sugar e.g watermelon, orange, paw paw ,apple,mango, banana.
N:B only 3 fingers of banana are expected to be consumed in a day.
The fruit provide vitamins to the body.
5. Vegetables: all types of vegetables are good for diabetes, there is no exceptions when it comes to vegetables because they help to regulate the blood ,aids in constipation, inflammation and release the sugar compile in the blood, helps maintain the immune system, examples of these vegetables are pumpkin leaf, garden egg, spinach,carrot, cucumber, waterleaf, cabbage,maize and so many more,you can consume them as many as you want,it have no effect when consumed excessively.
Vegetables provide the body with minerals.
6.physical activity: this is very important when it comes to managing diabetes, constant exercise help reduce and burn fat and sugar stored in the blood.
7. WATER: is among the classes of food so it is essential for the body( kidney) to prevent dehydration.
Ensure to consume at least 2.5 liters of water per day.
