FOUR KEYS TO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN RELATIONSHIPS.

Communication in a relationship is very important. It helps both partners to understand each other during the relationship. Communication goes beyond just talking and listening to what your partner is saying rather it is about paying attention to each other to understand each other. Tons of relationships have failed because of communication issues. There are a few key communication tips that can help keep relationships healthy.

*, LISTEN TO UNDERSTAND NOT TO GIVE REBUTTAL: One of the biggest problems, when people try to talk to each other, is that the person listening is waiting for their chance to counter your argument or dismiss what you are saying and that is not going to produce healthy communication. When someone is speaking, the goal or the ultimate should be trying to understand them and if you do not understand anything they say, do not attack them but go to ask for more clarity so that you can have more understanding about how they are feeling and what they are trying to communicate.

*YOU CAN DISAGREE BUT DO NOT DISMISS: A lot of couples try to dismiss the other's opinion if they do not agree on a situation. You may not agree with everything the individual says but you do not have to dismiss it. For instance, you can say to someone okay I understand that that is how you think it should be but the way that I think is abcd.....So with this, you are acknowledging their perspective whiles you give your side of opinion. This will lead to a better conversation.

*, BE OPEN AND HONEST: Just one lie can ruin a relationship. Lack of transparency can also ruin a relationship. If you want to have a healthier relationship or improve your relationship, then you have to be willing, to be honest, and transparent. Sometimes, honesty may hurt your feelings but even if hurting your feelings, it is much better with the truth than to dwell in the anger of the lie because lies will create other problems subsequently.

*DO NOT MAKE CONVERSATION ALL ABOUT YOU:

If you want people to understand you, then you have to include them in the conversation. It can not just be all about you giving your perspective without taking into consideration of others. For instance, in a romantic relationship, you can ask your partner that "is there anything that you don't like in the relationship".This will in the long run help sustain the relationship between the two.
