Wearing shades when you don't need UV protection can damage your eyesight in the long run.

This increases the amount of harmful solar radiation your eyes are exposed to increasing your risk of developing eye conditions like cataracts, retinal tissue damage and macular degeneration.

 

 

 

The eyes naturally has a protective mechanism to prevent harmful UV rays from entering your eyes.

Eyebrows help shield your eyes from bright light. Eyelids close to keep harsh light and harmful objects out.

But because you are wearing designer glasses, you give yourself confident that you are wearing a shield.

 

Meanwhile the glass has close to zero UV protection and since your eyes can't perceive the dangerous sunlight due to the shield, it's highly exposed to the UV rays damaging the eyes.
