Insecurity in Nigeria and the way out

INSECURITY IN NIGERIA: THE WAY OUT

There is nothing essential to any government than to protect the lives of her citizens, even if less care is given to their welfare. It's so disheartening that the Nigerian government couldn't prevent the death of roughly 500,000 citizens who were the victims of insecurity between 2012 to 2022.

Some of the possible solutions to Nigerian insecurity are:

Security against fear: This can be achieved by the furnishing of excess security personnel to every nook and cranny. Every government official, security officers above the rank of Major or its equivalent, should be mandated not to travel by air nor by train but rather by car.

Also, the provision of law stating that only federal police officers can be made should be amended. The room should be given to both federal, state, and local level officers so that they will not be vulnerable. All police officers should receive orders regarding security from the state commissioner of police. And if it comes to elections, they should receive it directly from the Inspector General (IG).

War against corruption: The anti-graft agencies and commissions should be made independent and have their allocations centrally from the federal government and independently. Non-governmental anti-corruption bodies should also be encouraged and be given a conducive atmosphere for their activities.

All those facing trials at court should be judged with no delay and if proved guilty, they should face their punishment accordingly and when due.

Educate citizens: 95% of the culprits ranging from bandits, armed robbers, and co if interviewed tell the world that they are indeed illiterates. Knows nothing from their childhood and thus thought lives are worth nothing. Government should give extensive care to both the rural's and urban's education.

Also, the senate and representatives should come up with policies mandating all stakeholders in education to enroll their children into public institutions, to study with the poor, and to revive the educational sector in the country.

Employment: Government should provide necessary employment and other acquisition skills to citizens. Also, proper supervision should be made to ensure adequate utilization of the given resources.

Total obedience to the state constitution: Elites should honor constitutional provisions over their interests, or that of their tribes, religions, or regional races.
