More than one hunded albinos and their family menbers assembled at the world association for Advocacy and solidarity of Albinos office in Yaounde, the capital country, to celebrate the Internatinal Albinism Awareness Day.
Between them is 20 year old Lisette, who said she was abandoned due to her condition.
Lisette Azeugo is one of the about 2,200 albinos live in Cameroon. Lisette said she wants to become a Defence Minister to protect her country and punish civilians who abused albinos' rights and dignity.
She said her father abandoned her when she was 5 years old. Her mother resisted family pressure to kill her. Lisette said a Catholic priest rescued her from her hard live and sent her to school in Yaounde.
This year cameroon reported that prejudice and discrimination against albinos in employment and social life had lowered drastically. Social affairs minister Pauline Irene Nguene says, albinos are placed in the group of people with special protection needs.
