Online Hustles Gone Wrong: Don’t Fall for These Fake Games

We’ve all been there — scrolling late at night and bumping into some “easy money game.” You click. It sounds too good. You play. You win. Then… nothing.

That was me with a game called Backfight. It promised I could withdraw at $15. I played, reached $15, and boom — it changed the cashout to $30.

That’s when I knew: I’d been played.

-When Hustling Online Turns into Wasting Time

As youth, we’re always looking for side hustles, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But some apps are designed to keep you stuck, giving you just enough to believe it’ll pay — but never enough to actually cash out.

Here’s what I learned, and what you should look out for:

1. “You Can Withdraw at $15” — Until You Reach It

Games like Backfight move the goalpost. First, they say withdraw at $15. When you hit it, suddenly you need $30. It’s designed to trap you into playing more, hoping you’ll give up or even deposit money.

2. Ads, Ads, and More Ads

If you’re spending more time watching ads than playing, chances are they’re getting paid, and you’re just the audience.

3. No One Has Actually Withdrawn

Before you get deep into any money-making game, check for proof. Search on YouTube, Reddit, or ask people. If no one has actually withdrawn real cash, that’s a sign.

4. They Want You to Pay First

If the game says “pay to unlock your earnings” — it’s a trap. Real hustles pay you, not the other way around.

✅ What You Can Do Instead

Not all online hustles are fake. But before jumping into any:

  • Look for real reviews

  • Avoid any app that changes withdrawal rules

  • Don’t deposit money just to get “paid”

  • Share your story to protect others

My Hustle Advice

I fell for Backfight, but I’m not hiding it. I’m sharing this so other youth don’t fall into the same trap. Let’s stop wasting time and focus on hustles that actually pay.
