remember that no one has to die of breast cancer today

Hello, I'm Pat and something to know about me is

I’m 80 years old and in 1988 at 39 years old I was diagnosed with with triple negative breast cancer. Back then there was not a lot of knowledge on triple negative breast cancer. I was stage 1. had a lumpectomy and 5 weeks of radiation. Back then radiation was not targeted and basically your chest and whole breast was radiated, not to mention they took all lymph nodes under your arm. No chemo and you were good to go. Then in 2002 I had triple negative in the other breast, stage 2.  I had a double mastectomy this time and yup,  I threw the dice and refused chemo. I was stupid and again just lucky. Just months after my second diagnosis my 34 year old daughter came to me and said I want to get a mammogram just as a baseline for future. Well they found breast cancer in both breasts. Triple negative also.  Fortunately she was also stage 1. We both tested positive for brac1. She went for double mastectomies and chemo. Only 4 AC treatments. We are both thriving and especially my now, 56 year old daughter who is in amazing shape. Works out everyday. Mom however, is not🙄. My other daughter is now 54 and this April she was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Back 22 years ago she was tested for the Brac gene and was negative. She is going to be retested. She has a lobular highly hormone driven, stage 1.

The moral of what seems to be a nightmare is you can survive breast cancer and go on to have a full life and breast cancer can be something of the past and life can be good again.

Remember no one has to die of breast cancer today 😘😘😘
