Ring Sun 🌞 Surfaces in Akure Ondo state halo Sun

Eyewitness Speaks on halo Around the Sun in Akure ondo state Nigeria

Someone called my attention to this astonishing image of the sun, or rainbow as he called it around 12:40 P.M. today Tuesday 2nd August, 2022 while I was at the premises of House of Prayer Ministries for all Nations, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.

I found it so fascinating that I had to take a few shots of it. Surprisingly when I left there a few minutes later and looked up at the sky just about three hundred metres away, I realized I couldn't sight it anymore; meaning it wasn't widespread.

I was inquisitive to know why it was so. So I did a little search on Google by asking, "does rainbow surround the sun?"

It schooled me that such an image is called "sun halo" and that "it appears like a circular rainbow around the sun, visible bright during the day."

It further explained that "Halos around the sun are caused by the refraction or the splitting of sunlight by ice crystals in the atmosphere. Circular halos specifically are produced by cirrus clouds, which are thin, detached, hair like clouds.

" Now I know what that arresting spectacle is called and what causes it. Isn't the omniscient God awesome?
