We are now in an era that would soon be classified as “gone” by posterity. This clearly means that time changes.
I think I have heard most people argue aimlessly about the ills of technology. Most of them would even get infuriated when they see you use a calculator... “Why not use your head,” they would always impose. These same people do not seem to understand that technology is only an evolving commodity. Stone age, “blah blah blah” ––those were times when technology was still at its prime.
I was sometime ago in a Christian fellowship and I was stricken by a statement made by a patriot of the fellowship. Even the other patriots were leaning on his mandate. They had wanted almost everyone to start coming to fellowship with hardcopy materials. The presence of softcopy materials wasn’t convenient with them. And they put up their reason like, “you aren’t responsible carrying around phone Bibles; hardcopy bibles would be preferable.”
Even the reading culture is also in the train of technology. For those who think the reading culture is dying out, ask yourself this question: “How many books have you read since the beginning of the year until now?” Do you know that, this days, we even read more than people of those days? I will clarify the said statement. There is social media and we spend almost all of our day in the virtual world than we do in the real world. The virtual world is simply trying to picture how the real world functions and function like it. And this is why we enjoy being there nowadays.
Most people think that the advancement or upgrade of technology is unreasonable or demonic. They do so because they think that they know what technology is actually all about.
Technology is simply the application of science, which is the systematic way of doing things. There is a rational notion that believes that technology shortens lifespan. Even if the said statement is true, what we have now, that is called technology, is not totally defined. The use of IPhones, Computers, Laptops, etc is not all about technology. The broad term (technology) can also involve the use of books, farm tools and other ancient materials.
