THE PRAYER OF THE CONSCIOUS TEEN
By Sheriff Erimaso Dada
have a role to play in my society
I have a price to pay for my existence
Even if it was offered to me without a cost
I have a lot to offer humanity
I have a duty to make myself a source of joy
A source of joy to my creator
A source of joy to myself
A source of joy to my parents
A source of joy to my neighbours
And so I need not let my senses waste away
Or use my strength for crafts that bring tears to humanity
If I do not use my hands well,
It would have been better to be born a leper
If I do not use my eyes well,
It would have been better to be born blind
If I do not use my lips well,
It would have been better to be born a dumb
If I do not use my ears well,
It would have been better to be deaf from birth
If I do not use my feet well,
It would have been better to born a cripple
If I can not think well with my brain,
It would have been better to come from the
If good thoughts can not spring from my heart,
It would have been better if I was handed to the devil from birth
Lord, help me to use my body and the gifts you have given me well
To bring glory to you
And to bring happiness to humanity
