The government is going to introduce tests for students to write before admission into courses at the Teacher Training Centers.
The government says it will set up a written examination for those who want to go to teacher training centers to study to become teachers before being admitted to the course from 2023 onwards.
This is going to continue because of the unsatisfactory answers found on the teacher accreditation exam papers, and this has made some assistants on the academic floor jealous.
Communicating these assistants during a workshop on teacher training, the Director-General of the Department of Education, Divine Ayidzoe said the examination would be based on two main subjects - Mathematics and English.
He said it is time to ensure that the country has good teachers. He pointed out that the results of the written examination for teacher accreditation show that Teachers who have passed the training and written BECE and WASSCE and have been monitored by the UCC and UEW cannot do a single lecture. Jasked an answer question, if that happens, how will the children be taught? Oindicated that for this reason in the coming year, tests on Mathematics and English will be conducted for those who wish to go to teacher training centers to study and their performance will be monitored.
The written teachers exam for recognition as teachers began 2018 to give teachers the necessary qualifications certifying their ability to fulfill their roles in Ghana, but it became a controversial issue in this country.
