The First Time We Spoke
The morning was soft when Mira stood near the school gate waiting for class to start.
Derek walked close and said, “You look quiet today. Is something heavy in your mind?”
Mira smiled small. “Nothing heavy. I am only thinking about the test later.”
Lena joined them. “You two sound like you practice this talk every morning.”
Tunde laughed. “Maybe they like talking alone. We always meet them like this.”
Mira said, “Stop it. We only talk normal. Nothing extra inside it.”
Derek looked at her. “Even if something extra is there, is it wrong for you?”
Mira looked away. “Please do not start that here. They will not let us rest.”
The Walk to Class
They all walked slowly to class with simple talks and calm steps in the hallway.
Tunde said, “Derek, you like Mira too much. We can all see it.”
Derek smiled. “I like her because she makes my heart feel safe and warm.”
Mira whispered, “Why do you talk like that in front of them?”
Derek replied, “I say it because it is true. I cannot hide it.”
Lena said, “Mira, say something. His heart is almost talking for him.”
Mira touched her hair. “I hear him. I am only shy to reply now.”
Derek smiled. “Take your time. I am not going anywhere.”
The Moment at the School Garden
After classes, they all sat in the small school garden to rest.
Sara and Ken joined the group with wide smiles on their faces.
Sara said, “We heard something sweet is growing between two people here.”
Mira covered her face. “You all like teasing too much today.”
Ken said, “We tease because it is true. Derek looks at you like you shine.”
Derek whispered, “I look because she gives me peace when she is near.”
Mira said, “You say soft things like you want my heart to melt.”
Derek replied, “If it melts for me, I will keep it safe always.”
The True Confession
They sat close under the small tree while the wind made light sound.
Derek said, “Mira, I want to tell you one clear truth now.”
Mira looked at him. “Say it. I am listening to you.”
Derek said, “I like you. I like your soft voice and calm heart.”
Mira smiled. “I like you too. I only feared saying it first.”
Lena shouted, “Finally! We waited for this all week.”
Tunde said, “Both of you should hold hands now before we drag you.”
Mira laughed and took Derek’s hand softly.
The Simple and Sweet Ending
They all walked home together with warm smiles and slow steps.
Derek said, “Mira, can I hold your hand tighter now?”
Mira replied, “Hold it the way it feels right for you.”
Sara said, “You two look cute. Please do not fight tomorrow.”
Ken laughed. “They will not fight. They look like peace standing together.”
Tunde added, “This is the first love story I see so simple.”
Lena said, “Simple love is the best love.”
Mira whispered to Derek, “Thank you for choosing me today.”
