Femi Falana, a renowned human rights attorney, has stated that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is prepared to end its protracted strike.
This was said in a statement issued on Thursday by the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Falana has now urged the Federal Government to accede to the professors' requests and put a stop to the strike, which began on February 14.
This comes less than a week after Falana urged the federal government to make an additional budget request to allocate N200 billion for the renovation of federal universities around Nigeria.
"We have affirmed that the whole ASUU membership is ready to end the strike as soon as the FG/ASUU Renegotiated Agreement is carried out by the Federal Government, based on our discussions with the ASUU leadership.
In light of this, we feel obligated to urge President Buhari to put a stop to the strike by ordering Mr. Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, to carry out the renegotiated agreement. In the interest of the public, the Agreement should be carried out as quickly as feasible, according to Falana.
