Causes of skin tags

Skin tags are small, soft, skin-coloured growths that appear on your skin, and look similar to warts. Unlike warts however, they aren't contagious but they have a smooth, knobbly appearance and tend to hang off from the skin. They aren't harmful but that can snag on your clothes sometimes and bleed if you aren't careful. Skin tags can grow anywhere on your body, but the most common places are around the eyelids, on the neck, armpits or around your groin. Traditionally doctors have said that skin tags are caused by skin rubbing together, however new research suggests that they have other internal causes. Some studies show that some people may be more prone to getting skin tags due to their genetics. Meaning that you may have a higher chance of getting these if it runs in your family. Secondly, research suggests that people who have the HPV virus, which is the cold sore virus are also more prone to getting skin tags. However more research on this is currently needed. But by far the most common cause of skin tags in high insulin levels in the body.

Insulin is an anabolic hormone which causes things to grow in your body. It can also weaken the immune system so that the virus we just mentioned can come out of remission. Why Is My Insulin High? So you may be wondering why your insulin levels are high, and why this is causing you to grow skin tags on your body. Eating too many refined carbohydrates, sugar and flour based foods causes your insulin levels to spike. Basically these foods turn into glucose (sugar) in the body, and your insulin works to take this sugar out of your blood. Over time, eating too many of these carbohydrates drives your insulin level so high, that it starts to make you grow skin tags. It also makes you gain weight, and develop fat build up in your liver. How To Fix This: Now I'm going to share with you 3 steps to get rid of skin tags and prevent them from returning by lowering your insulin.

1. Follow a low carbohydrate diet such as keto. Remove all the refined carbs from your diet like bread, cereal, biscuits, pasta etc.. And replace them with healthy fats like avocados, eggs, olive oil and grass fed butter. Many people have reported that their skin tags start to fall off naturally after following a low carb diet for a few months.

2. Improve your blood sugars by eating lots of cruciferous vegetables like kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts and cabbage. You can also add lots of turmeric, cinnamon and black seed oil into your diet. This will help to reduce blood sugars and insulin. Povidone Iodine

3. Finally, if you wish to remove a skin tag quickly you can apply topical iodine onto the skin tag using a cotton swab and cover it with a band-aid. Do this daily until the skin tag falls off on its own. The best type of iodine to use is called povidone-iodine and can be purchased from any pharmacy.
