The Cure for moral decadency among youth

According to Wikipedia, “Moral is a message that is conveyed or a lesson to be learned from a story or event“. A moral is a lesson in a story or in real life. We can define decadence as a decline in moral or cultural beliefs. However, putting these words into consideration, moral decadence is the gross reduction in the moral values in a particular society. We have been taught by our predecessors about moral values, culture, superstitions, folklore, myth aside others, which we imbibe and has been accepted by the society.

Nevertheless, decline in morals has been observed throughout the years. Youths have been rebellious in one way or the other, despising the culture and tradition of their society. In West Africa, taking Nigeria as a case study, we have different ethnic groups, in which the major ones are Yoruba, Ibo’s and Hausa. As earlier defined, morals are lessons in stories or real life, different ethnic groups have different histories and predecessors. Morals are acceptable way of living in a particular society.

Without mincing words, we need to evaluate on the cures of moral decadence because of it’s effect on the society.

Firstly, We need to understand the fact that charity begins at home. Parent need to educate their child about the rewards of being moral upright.

Secondly, western knowledge would help in training our youths. They would learn how to help, teach and love one another to make the society a better place.

Thirdly, “An Idle man’s hand is the devil workshop”. We need to train our youth to self-develop themselves and be honest in their dealings. Government should create policies and empowerment programs for youth.

In conclusion, all these points would be enough to cure moral decadence in the society and make the society a better place to live
