Dispute settlement under the Katarungang Pambarangay.

 Step by step process in the Barangay Level:

1.      Complaint filed with Barangay Captain orally or in writing.

2.      Lupon Secretary records the complaint and assigns it a docket number.

3.      Barangay issues summons for parties to appear before him.

4.      Barangay Captain conciliates or arbitrates the case.

5.      If settlement is reached, case is considered closed.

6.      If conciliation or arbitration fails, Barangay Captain creates a Pangkat.

7.      Pangkat conciliates the parties or arbitrates the case.

8.      If agreement is reached or arbitration award is made, case is closed.

9.      If arbitration fails or Pangkat’s  decision is validly repudiated the case may be taken to court.
