WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
Domestic violence is violence committed by someone in the victim’s domestic circle. This includes partners and ex-partners, immediate family members, other relatives and family friends.
The term ‘domestic violence’ is used when there is a close relationship between the offender and the victim. There is usually a power gap between them. The victim is dependent on the offender. Domestic violence can take the form of physical, sexual or psychological abuse.
DIFFERENT FORMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
- Child abuse
- Se*xual abuse
- Physical torture
- Emotional torture and so on.
Domestic violence is common among men to their partners or victims, but I really want to assure you that women also engage in domestic violence. It's just that the ratio of women doing it is lower compared to men.
1. Child abuse
This can present itself in various forms. I wouldn't be going to deep into this because our main focus is about relationship.
A child can be abused s*exually and\or physical.
Taking underage kids who can't decide on their own as local maids at home or store is a big offense and punishable under the law.
2. Se*xual abuse
It can be defined as an act of touching the victim in an improper way without their consent. That is where we have rape and child molestation. I will be elaborating on se*xual abuse in my next article
3. Physical torture
I guess this is the most common type domestic violence we have witnessed or been told about. This involves use of harmful objects on the body of the victim, such as; belt, cane and even their hands. This also refers to the physical torture of your children not just your spouse.
This has a great effect on the victim and the kid(s) if any. This is done even by your idols you fantasize about and aspire to be like. So I will say you should watch who u make a role model.
4. Emotional torture
Wounds that are physical can heal with time,no matter how long; though it might leave scars. Emotional torture to me can be the worst if not curb easily. When rifts happen between spouses,I believe it is better you have a dialogue and settle it out. Ignoring them and making them feel they don't exist anymore is the worst torture. Show love to them because everyone deserves to be loved. Most people have made mistakes because they didn't get love from which has registered in their brain and has affected them psychologically.
You can't give what you don't have, someone who has never been loved can't love or show someone love. I hope this has enlightened you today.
My next article will be about causes and way to curb domestic violence. Thank you and see you soon ❤️
