Elephant murders an Indian woman, then returns to attack her corpse during her funeral.

The confrontation between elephants and humans is increasing as the animals are forced into relative proximity to populated areas due to the destruction of their natural habitat Elephants are suffering as a result of climate change. As temperatures rise, more water sources are expected to dry up, forcing elephants to seek alternative food sources and putting them in frequent contact with humans.

Although elephants are renowned for being compassionate animals with exceptional cognitive capacities, these enormous animals can also be deadly and can attack humans, especially when they feel exposed, mistreated, or provoked, or when their territory is in jeopardy.

According to the news source a certain septuagenarian woman named Maya Murmu was murdered by a wild elephant while walking to gather water in the Indian state of Odisha's Mayurbhanj. The Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, which is roughly 10 kilometers from Jamshedpur, is where the elephant is believed to have escaped from. Murmu was allegedly attacked by an elephant, taken to the hospital, and ultimately passed away from her wounds, according to the police report. It was also stated that the animal returned soon after Murmu's demise, when the family assembled to conduct her interment. She approached, snatched the body, smashed it once more, threw it aside, and then fled.

The incident described above sparked a lot of speculation regarding what may have happened between the woman and the creature. Some have claimed that because elephants have such large brains, they never forget even the smallest details, unlike humans, who are both extremely brilliant and vindictive. Others asserted that because they are vengeful and never forget, elephants and other wild animals like tigers and bears should be handled carefully.

Animals are part of life and we are to treat them with respect and perhaps also learn from them. Their high level of intelligence, seismic senses (ground vibrations detected by their feet), sense of smell, and complex communication should excite humans for researched about instead of causing their deaths.
