Health benefits of beetroots


It is a taproot portion of a beer plant. It goes by different names such as; table beet, red beet, dinner beet or golden beet. 


•Helps lower blood pressure. It contains nitrates compounds which help in widening and relaxing blood vessels.

•Improves exercise stamina.

-it helps to increase plasma nitrate levels and boost physical performance. It also helps reduce maximum oxygen output.

•May improve muscle power in with heart failure.

•It helps maintain a healthy weight. This is influenced by the low calorie amount in them.

•May help prevent cancer. A component called betalains which is  a water soluble anti-oxidant plays that role. Anti-oxidant are said to help kill free radicals found in our bodies that may influence development of cancerous cells.

•It is a good source of minerals such as potassium, iron, magnesium etc.

•It also contains folate which is a vitamin B that plays a major role in preventing neural tube defects such as spina bifida.
