At the age of 26, I was let off my six-figure career as a copywriter in 2015. At the time, it felt like a big setback. But, in retrospect, that provided the impetus I needed to become my own boss.
I was asked to be a bridesmaid in two weddings shortly following my layoff. Instead of being stressed, I saw an opportunity. I'd been a bridesmaid about a dozen times before and not only enjoyed it, but I was also good at it.
So I put up a Craigslist ad for bridesmaid services and had over 300 inquiries. Some folks had close friends who couldn't attend their wedding, while others didn't want a full-service wedding planner but needed assistance with logistics.
That's how it works.
Bridesmaid for Hire debuted in 2015. After more than 125 weddings, I've been able to use my brand to generate three passive revenue sources totaling more than $5,100 each month.
Here's a closer look at each income source:

Since 2011, I've been blogging about wedding preparations. I enjoy showing my 100,000 social media followers and 40,000 newsletter subscribers behind-the-scenes glimpses into my life and business.
Last year, after speaking with several influential friends, I began a new income stream as a brand affiliate on platforms such as Amazon Affiliate Program and RewardStyle.
I share things such as jewelry, clothing, shoes, purses, makeup, and beauty.
On social media, my website, and weekly newsletters, I promote things that I would wear to a wedding. I receive a % of sales every time someone clicks on the link and makes a purchase.
Every week, I spend around 20 minutes looking for things and generating material on them. I keep a running list of things I use and love.
