HOW TO BUILD YOUR PORTFOLIO FOR INVESTORS
A portfolio is a valuable asset to gaining employment either as a freelancer or an employee. But how do you build a portfolio with little or no experience? There are creative ways to work on projects and gather materials for your portfolio without having official, professional experience. The elements of your portfolio largely depend on what field you’re going into, but there are few basics that apply to all types.These are tips to build a portfolio you’ll be proud to present, how to talk about your case studies, and other information to include in your portfolio.
1. Include a table of content.
Create a content which showcases your ability to perform a type of work. Including a table of contents makes it easier. For a niche like UX writing, you will have to include the terms associated with UI/UX, which are wireframming, prototyping, flows and so on and so forth.These contents will make it easier for prospective employers, administrators, or clients to navigate through your work
2. Describe your goals in a personal statement
Expatiate on your goals in a non-vague manner. Your aims and objective should be clear and precise. It can be a paragraph or a list which describe your short or long terms goals. Your personal statement should also include information about what you stand for in terms of work ethic, communication skills, management philosophy, teamwork.
3. Outline your skills and experience in greater detail
Consider the required skills that are likely to be requested. List these skills and work experience in your portfolio, as this will will earn your client trust as a freelancer and as an employee.
4. Include samples.
Note that the types of samples you include will vary based on the nature of your portfolio and field of interest.
· For graphics,arts and related fields, you will need to add visual photographs of your work.
· For writing and related fields, you will need to include text samples.
· For web development, Software development, you will need to include links to your website or apps
5. Attach testimonials or awards.
This is optional If you are new to your field but as an experience writer, designer, digital marketer, you need to include client testimonials. Your academic credentials usually expand upon the knowledge gained. Include certifications in your portfolio(This is also optional for new freelancer and employees
