How to Live a long Healthy Life

Lifestyle and good nutrition are cardinal factors that determine a person's quality of health and longevity of life. A long healthy life does not happen by chance; it is a product of regularity in eating and the non-violation of the laws that govern the harmonious co-existence and functionality of various body organs.

Eating sparingly nutritionally rich foods at regular periods spaced at least five hours apart is one of the cornerstones of a long healthy life. Unlike the dictates of society where the first meal of the day has been made the lightest, good health manners require that breakfast should be the heaviest meal of the day. Eating should be a slow process done in relaxed conditions free from nervousness and a sense of urgency. Digestion begins in the mouth and food must be masticated slowly and thoroughly to mix well with saliva before being swallowed.

In observing regularity, meals should be at least five to six hours apart. Eating between meals, even the lightest item, apart from water, should be avoided at all costs. After a hearty breakfast is eaten at 7 am, for instance, no food should be eaten until the next meal five to six hours later. Food eaten between meals interferes with the digestion of the previous meal. When food is introduced into the body in between meals, the stomach stops the digestion of the previous meal so as to take care of the new food entering it. When food lies in the stomach partly digested it rots and it produces toxins that affect the liver, kidneys, the brain, and emotions when absorbed into the body.
